Storm and roof-leak damage
Rain that gets past the roofline shows up as a stain, a sag or a drip. The wet insulation above it is the bigger problem.
Inside the house
A ceiling stain means water has already crossed the attic and soaked insulation and drywall. Photograph it, set out a bucket, and keep people out from under any sagging section.
Restoration work addresses the interior: removing wet insulation and ceiling board, drying the framing and treating the area. The roof itself is a roofing contractor's job.
Two trades, two jobs
A restoration contractor dries the house. A roofer fixes what let the rain in. Temporary tarping falls in between, and some firms offer it, so ask the one who answers.
Florida statute 489.147 bars contractors from offering a rebate, gift or deductible waiver in exchange for a roof inspection or a roof-damage claim. This website only connects callers with firms and has no role in a claim.
Storm facts for the area
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. In 2004 Hurricane Jeanne came ashore on September 26 at the south end of Hutchinson Island, just east of Stuart, according to the National Hurricane Center. Hurricane Nicole in 2022 made landfall at Vero Beach, the next county north.
